Hi! I'm Leanne. It's nice to meet you {Virtually}.

Like many college grads, I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do after leaving this safe haven and entering "the real world." I knew I loved events and so I set out to find a job in the event world. My first big girl job was at a small meeting planning company. During my 4.5 years there, I learned every piece of the meeting planning process. My main responsibilities were communications (think invitations and final confirmation details), on-site support and "left hand" gal to the owner of the company (she already had a right-hand gal). While I got to learn each piece of planning from initial idea to venue sourcing, communication, Cvent registration, BEOs & logistics, name badge and on-site execution, I always knew I didn't want to be a meeting planner. All of those details were too much for me. So I focused on the communications piece for many of those years.
In 2013 I left that meeting planning company to join a biotech company near Boston as the second half of a two-part registration management team. Here is where I really flourished and realized my passion lies with the registration piece of meetings. I finally embraced the inner nerd who was really there all along (hello - I used to sit and help my dad take apart computers in our living room). I'm thankful for the opportunity because I learned so much in the 2 years I was there. |
My responsibilities included building registration sites while working side-by-side with my planners, overall system administration (custom fields, system workflow, templates and a whole lot more), training our planners (1:1 and weekly group trainings) and a heavy involvement in integrating Cvent with the company's other technology platforms and rolling out Cvent/SMM to our European meeting planning colleagues.
In June 2015, after I had my second son, it was time to get focused - really focused - on what I wanted to do from here on out. It had become abundantly clear that I was meant to help planners and companies with their registration systems. So I formalized my business, hired an amazing coach who helped me make sense of everything and here I am.
I thrive off completing a registration site and seeing it come full circle from inception to execution. I love discovering all of the little nuances there are to learn about Cvent. Even after all these years, I still learn something new every day (a new way to edit or format a page, a new way to invite attendees, a piece of the system I never knew was there but makes registration that much better and easier). I actually, really, love it and I can't wait to share that love and passion with you!

On a personal note, here's a little about me... |
On a personal note, I am a proud mama to 2 little guys, married to a wonderfully patient special ed teacher and Owner/Operator/CEO of Leanne Velky, Inc. That's my family over there in the picture!
I was born and raised in Vermont - a special place where life is simple. I LOVE maple syrup - the real kind - and am one of a few who don't actually know how to ski or snowboard {I know, I know!}. I moved to Massachusetts because I've always had a deep love and fascination for Boston. And thank goodness I did because that's where I met my husband and had these boys! I didn't always know what I wanted to do but did always know I didn't want a job where I sat in a boring cubicle and looked at a grey wall all day. I was meant for more. That dream and that passion is what led me to start this company. I adore my clients and am so grateful for every opportunity that has brought me to this point! |
